Seematti caters to the needs of the grooms and men’s fashion by opening Men’s Ethnic wear section and Men’s studio where in all the popular Men’s brands are merchandised. A store that had a modest beginning in 1910 at Alappuzha with a paltry 4000 sq.ft floor area has now evolved into a sprawling textile mall with a slew of distinct features. Now, the combined facility and utility area of Seematti is a whopping five lakh sq.ft with car park and excellent infrastructure. Textile maverick S. Veeriah Reddiar sowed the seeds of textile revolution in Kerala by opening the first Seematti store in 1910. In the succeeding decades, Seematti branched out to all major centers in Travancore like Changanassery, Thiruvalla, Chengannur, Pathanamthitta, Kollam, Kayamkulam, Adoor, Trivandrum etc. In early 1950’s, Seematti Kottayam was born. Beena Kannan’s father V. Thiruvenkitam, son of Veeriah Reddiar continues to be the leading light of Seematti Kottayam. He not only expanded Seematti Kottayam but also founded Seematti Kochi handing over the reins of the latter to his daughter Beena and son-in-law Veeriah alias Kannan.
A pioneer in introducing designer Kancheepuram Sarees, Beena Kannan’s name is synonymous with voguish silk sarees and apparels. Her trade mark is designing the sarees at the weaving phase itself. Her accomplishments have been acknowledged by the Guinness Records and various Business and Textile communities. She travels in India and abroad extensively in order to source the best quality products. These travels have introduced her to new retail trends,stores with world class décor and upscale merchandising quality. Resultantly, Seematti has the finest interior and offers unmatched shopping experience.

Beena was born to V. Thiruvenkitam and Late Mrs. Seethalakshmi Thiruvenkitam on 16th July 1960. Her inborn traits for detail and design drew her towards the family business. She was initiated in to the business by her husband Veeriah (Kannan) and her father V.Thiruvenkitam

Entry in to Guinness Book of World Records & Limca Book of Records 2007 for presenting World’s longest Silk Saree measuring half a kilometer.

Beena Kannan, the CEO and lead designer has been recognized by ‘Lifetime achievement award’ from Erode- Coimbatore Weavers community in 2009. She has also been the recipient of Business Sree Award of India Trade fair Foundation. The Times Group honored her in 2010 with the title ‘Woman of Substance’. The best Woman Entrepreneur Award of the year 2010 instituted by ‘Fashion Mantra’ was also awarded to her.
